2024 National Indigenous Education Symposium
The National Indigenous Education Symposium brings together Indigenous education, policy, and industry leaders from across Turtle Island to explore Indigenous pathways addressing Canada’s challenges. Held in 2024 on the ancestral lands of the Mi’kmaq people and co-hosted by Colleges & Institutes Canada (CICan) and the Indigenous Institutes Consortium (IIC), the event centred on integrating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives to address skills gaps and better support Indigenous learners and communities. The 2024 gathering also commemorated the 10th anniversary of CICan’s Indigenous Education Protocol, a landmark commitment now signed by over 70 colleges across Turtle Island.
